Since our very humble beginnings nearly seventy years ago, NMCCH has grown. Across years and decades, we have touched the lives of thousands of people, and their lives have touched ours. Our story is really their story, and in truth NMCCH belongs not to us, but to them. But parents say they’re getting this letter after their kids miss just a few days because they’re sick. KOB 4 first spoke to a concerned mother Monday, and since then, several others reached out saying they feel the same way.
When the family breaks down, MNCH becomes a refuge for these Navajo families and their children. Caring for their children offers an opportunity for the Navajo parents to get on their feet and for MNCH to give care and hope to their children. Manuelito Children’s Home and Gallup Christian School is a necessity for the Navajo People. Every dollar goes to change the lives of these precious Navajo children. They are cared for, looked after, encouraged, and mentored at our school. Your gift will have an immediate impact on their education, clothing, meals and care.

The House of Hope program is over 20 years old, we have cared for over 500 children in that program in that time, and these children come from emergency situations, crisis type situations. We will go over the expectations of the inspection before the inspection so you will know what we are looking for in the Home Safety Checklist.

Their spokesperson said when any of their students call out sick it does not count as an unexcused absence — so in theory, ten sick days will not automatically label a Rio Rancho student as chronically absent. KOB 4 reached out to APS Monday and Tuesday to talk about these letters and student absences. But both days we were told they could not provide any information. So we turned to the Public Education Department about whether there is any leniency given this tripledemic situation we are in. According to the letter Crawley received, students are considered “chronically absent if they miss 10% of school days” that boils down to about 18 days in a 178-day school year. Since 1992, New Mexico Children’s Foundation has granted over $2 million to 227 nonprofit organizations in all 33 counties of New Mexico.
The New Mexico Christian Children’s Home has begun working to provide care and opportunities for new mothers that have not always been readily available to them in the past. With New Mother Homes, there are opportunities for counseling, social services coordination and spiritual guidance. The goal of NMBCH has always been to make a difference in the lives of the children God entrusts to our care.
Our mission is to serve the needs of children in whatever situation they find themselves. The problem that we are focusing on is the need in our society to strengthen and serve families. Through our residential homes we strive to serve children who are in need of a home due to the parents' inability or unwillingness to provide for their children. We completed construction on a new cottage in 2019 to replace an old cottage. We completed a renovation on our main campus playground in May 2020. We began our Single Parent program in 1983 with a few apartments on our main campus.
